Lance the Inventor

Image
Lance was a cheerful, young groundhog. His passion was to invent and his inventions were remarkable. He had invented an airplane that could fly and a parachute too. He also invented a zip line and a pogo stick.  His laboratory was in a giant hole near the Old Oak Tree. One day, Lance overheard a frog talking to a rabbit just above his hole. The frog said, “Tomorrow is the Great Talent Competition. If you have any talent, you have the choice to reveal it in front of all the forest animals. The animal with the greatest talent would receive the Triumphant Talent Trophy.” Lance was excited. He began preparing for the competition as soon as possible. He polished his airplane, painted it with the brightest colours and created the most vibrant parachutes ever. The next day, he hurriedly took his inventions to the competition. He saw hundreds of artists with beautiful sculptures, colourful paintings and stunning masterpieces. He joyfully demonstrated his work to the public. However,...

The Tale of Mr. Nicely and the Mice

Image
Mr. Nicely was an incredibly kind cat. He never chased mice and respected all the animals of the forest. He lived in a cute little home near the lake. Every day, he went fishing and donated half of his catch to the ill or injured bears.  He was also compassionate towards the mice living in a small hole in his home. He gave them a proportionate amount of food. The mice repaid the kindness of the cat by doing whatever little chores they could do such as placing a fresh bunch of flowers in his vase everyday and cleaning the tiny corners of his home.  However, there was one mouse who objected the mice’s relentless efforts to help Mr. Nicely. He never worked for the cat and always lazed around in his hole eating cheese and cake. He would see his brothers and sisters work hard everyday but still, he never ventured out of the hole.   One day, he said, “That’s it! I’ve had enough! You mice work tirelessly for that cat who does nothing for you. We can find our food ourselves. We d...

The Construction of Beaver Tower

Image
The Construction  of Beaver Tower   Mr. Woodtail was a conscientious beaver who lived in Beaver Dam No. 12. One day, he thought to himself, “All of us beavers have built separate dams to live in. The river has become so crowded because of this. If we combine these dams to build a single ginormous dam, it would be easier for other animals to carry out their usual activities on the river.” And so Mr. Woodtail explained his idea to the other beavers. They were quite pleased and decided to move their homes and make a gigantic beaver complex. The complex was designed by Mr. Brown, an extremely talented architect. It had small openings as windows, a huge gate made of oak and even a playground with wooden slides and swings.  The beavers used a large amount of wood and therefore, their complex stretched high up in the sky. When the other animals of the forest learnt about the magnificent structure’s construction, they helped in all the ways they could. The rabbits provided...

Forest Tales : Nuts the Squirrel

Image
Nuts the Squirrel Nuts was quite an adventurous squirrel kitten. One day, he snuck out of home and scurried off to Mr. Elk’s Confectionery Company to buy toffees. On the way, he met Robert the deer, his best friend. He said, “Hello, Robert. Would you like to come with me to Mr. Elk’s Confectionery Company?”   Robert replied, “Sure. But it’s a long way from here. I’ve got to ask my mother.” To which Nuts replied, “Oh, don’t be such a sourpuss! You’ll be back home in no time at all.” “Okay”, Robert replied nervously.  Soon they were both prancing joyfully through the forest although Robert did feel a bit uncertain about the idea. As they were travelling, a gruesome beast appeared from behind the bushes. It was Mr. Gordon the wicked fox!     They both screamed at the very sight. Robert rushed away in panic but then he realised that he had left Nuts behind. When he went back, he found that Nuts was frozen still in front of the fox (a common squirrel instinct). Mr....
